Woman sues David Copperfield for sexual assault

A Seattle woman has sued magician David Copperfield, contending he sexually assaulted and threatened her while she was a guest on his private island in the Bahamas.

Copperfield`s lawyers Angelo Calfo and Patty Eakes deny the allegations and say the lawsuit is "extortion for money, plain and simple."

No criminal charges have been filed.

The Seattle Times describes the woman as a 22-year-old fashion model and former Miss Washington USA contestant. She says she met Copperfield during a January 2007 performance in Kennewick and that year she was invited to his private island.

The Times says the lawsuit was filed July 29 in federal court in Seattle against David Seth Kotkin, Copperfield`s given name. That date was the deadline for a two-year statute of limitations.

Kruger escapes arrest by Oz police for sleeping in car

German actress Diane Kruger escaped arrest during a recent road trip across Australia with boyfriend actor Joshua Jackson, after they were found sleeping in their car by the police.

Kruger, 33, and Jackson, 31, were on holiday Down Under when they found themselves stranded without a place to stay in between destinations, so they parked their car and slept in it for the night.

But Kruger was stunned when she woke up, and found cops tapping on her window.

“I’d never been (to Australia). We didn’t make reservations anywhere, we just got in a car and started driving,” the Daily Express quoted her as saying.

“And then of course, every once in a while we couldn’t find a hotel, so we’d sleep in the car - which was not fun for me, but fun for him.

“It’s not (legal). The police knocked on the car windows at five in the morning and he didn’t wake up. I had to talk to the police officer and he was very nice and he let me go,” she added.

Beyonce’s bodyguard exchanges blows with Croatian paparazzo

R ‘n’ B singer Beyonce’s visit to the Croatian coastal resort of Dubrovnik is said to have ended with one of her bodyguards coming to blows with a local paparazzo.According to the online edition of the Jutarnji List daily, footage showed Beyonce and her rapper husband Jay-Z heading to a boat anchored in the medieval port, while the bodyguard kicked a 57-year-old Croatian cameraman in the back several times, reports the Daily Telegraph.

Private television station RTL showed images of the incident on August 18, including journalists chasing the pop star down Dubrovnik’s narrow streets despite her bodyguard’s protests.

The footage also showed that before getting back on the boat, the bodyguard knocked the journalist’s video camera to the ground, and then laid into the man himself.

The cameraman then hit the bodyguard in the back with his tripod, and the latter angrily responded by throwing it in the Adriatic Sea.

Police said they were investigating the incident.

After Myson, Salman Khan’s Myjaan passes away

It is a truth universally known that Salman Khan cares more for his pets than any of his girlfriends. And Salman is a distressed soul these days. The die-hard pet lover is reeling under the shock of losing another pet, Myjaan, whom Salman loved dearly. More than a pet, Myjaan was like a family member for Sallu. Earlier this year, the actor’s another pet Myson had passed away.

According to latest Bollywood news, Myjaan had not been keeping well and Salman had admitted him at the SPCA Hospital in Parel. A source informed a news daily, “When Myjaan passed away, Salman was shooting for London Dreams in Andheri. He quickly wrapped up the shoot and rushed home.”

Myjaan has been buried in Salman’s farmhouse at Panvel, where Myson was earlier buried. “Myjaan’s death has come as a shock to Salman. He will take a long time to recover. He has two pet dogs now - Myson (who was named after the first pet) and Mylove,” the source added.

Paris Hilton rubbishes engagement rumours

Paris Hilton has rubbished rumours that she is engaged to on/off boyfriend Doug Reinhardt.Hilton and Reinhardt split earlier this year but reunited recently.

Reinhardt gifted Hilton expensive jewellery while the pair was on a vacation in Bora Bora, kicking off gossip that he proposed to the hotel heiress.

However, Hilton maintained the media made up the story.

Contactmusic quoted Hilton’s spokesperson as saying: "The rumour of Paris Hilton’s engagement to Doug Reinhardt is inaccurate. The couple had a lovely time on their vacation and are happy together, however this is a false rumour and is just another example of bloggers inventing their own stories."

Maha Govt approaches Shah Rukh for anti-child labour campaign

After actor and film maker Aamir Khan refused the offer to be brand ambassador for its anti-child labour campaign, Maharashtra Government has approached superstar Shah Rukh Khan, a senior minister said.

"Aamir Khan has said he would not be able to participate in the campaign. We have approached Shah Rukh for the same and are awaiting a word from him," Labour Minister Nawab Malik told reporters at Mantralaya here on Thursday.

There is a budget of Rs one crore for an advertisement campaign for eradication of child labour in the state, the
minister said.

Noted adman Prahlad Kakkar has agreed to make the advertisement, Malik said.

Dannii Minogue set for engagement

Australian pop star Dannii Minogue is set to get engaged to former rugby player boyfriend Kris Smith, according to her friends.

The star has flown to her native to surprise her British beau, but Smith is said to be planning an even bigger surprise for her by asking her to be his wife with a huge diamond ring, Femalefirst reported.

"It`s going to be a trip full of shockers," a friend of the singer said.

Minogue, 37, is flying back especially for Smith`s catwalk debut, after he landed a number of modelling contracts, and hopes to shock him by getting a front row seat.

Friends say she told Kris she wouldn`t be able to see him before the start of the latest series of UK talent show `The X Factor` on which Minogue is a judge and talent mentor.

Minogue has previously admitted she is ready to get engaged to the 29-year-old boyfriend, saying, "I think I`m looking at nesting this year... know what I mean?"

Konkona and Ranvir to enter wedlock on Dec 27

Perry slams Lady GaGa`s hermaphrodite rumours as `calculated`

Singer Katy Perry has made her opinion public about speculations that Lady GaGa is a hermaphrodite, insisting that the rumours are fuelled on purpose.

The `Poker Face` singer`s onstage footage had sparked off fresh debate earlier this year as to whether or not the hitmaker has both female and male reproductive organs because a bulge could clearly be seen, Contactmusic reported.

A website reported that GaGa actually addressed the rumours of her sexuality with a blog entry at Christmas last year.

The website claims the singer wrote, "It`s not something that I`m ashamed of, just isn`t something that I go around telling everyone. Yes. I have both male and female genitalia, but I consider myself a female."

GaGa has since slammed the rumours as "ridiculous", but Perry is convinced that GaGa purposefully made it look like she had a bulge in order to garner more publicity.

"It`s all very calculated. She knows what she`s doing. She put something in her knickers, a mini strap-on. Bless her if she does have it (male organ), but I am certain she
doesn`t," Perry was quoted telling to a newspaper.

Shah Rukh plans a grand Bollywood tribute for Michael Jackson

He might have had a rotten experience in the US owing to the humiliation he faced at the American airport, but Shah Rukh Khan has got over with it and now has eleborate plans to pay the American legend and the King of Pop Michael Jackson a big fat tribute. Set for Jackson’s birthday on August 29, the tribute will be marked by an album that will have Bollywood’s biggest names record their heartfelt honour for the legend.

News has it that when SRK’s production Red Chilles creative heads conceived the idea to the actor he loved it. Being a huge fan of the icon, Shah Rukh immediately started planning to pay a fitting tribute to Jackson. Confirming the news a daily quoted a source as saying, " Shah Rukh had cried when he learnt about MJ’s death. He was also supposed to attend one of the London concerts, which never happened. So, the idea was finalised and they decided to make a music video as a tribute. The best talent for the song was Vishal of the Vishal-Shekhar duo. Vishal is a huge fan too and he was in shock for days when he learnt about MJ’s death."

Vishal Dadlani too confirmed the story and said, “The song is titled, ‘We lived in his world’.”

Besides SRK, the album will also feature singers Kay Kay, Shaan, Sunidhi Chauhan and Shreya Goshal besides celebs like Hrithik Roshan, Shahid Kapur, Harman Baweja, Yuvraj Singh, Katrina Kaif, Kangna Ranaut and Priyanka Chopra, among others. The video, currently being shot, is directed by Samar Khan.

What’s even more endearing about this goodwill gesture, is the fact that none of the people associated with the video have charged a penny for this act. It’s been shot in low lighting and has a unique mood. The video will go on air on all the leading channels on August 29, MJ’s birthday.

Winehouse back to partying ways

Troubled British singer Amy Winehouse has gone back to her old partying ways as she was recently spotted drinking at a pub with an ex-boyfriend.

Thesun.co.uk reports that Winehouse was spotted with a runny nose, soaked top, burnt finger and dirty nails. She went to the pub, The Queens, in north London with her ex-boyfriend Kristian Marr and was joined by David Gest -- they had dinner and a lot of drinks.

"Amy couldn`t even stand when she came in. It was only 8.45 pm. Everyone at the bar was moaning about them being there," said a source.

Ricky Martin has said that becoming a father has been “the most spiritual moment” of his life.

The pop singer welcomed twins, Matteo and Valentino, who were delivered via surrogacy, in August last year.

The Grammy Award winner shared photos of himself with his 1-year-old twin sons enjoying their day at a beach in Miami.

“I’m so happy. Everything they do, from smiling to crying, feels like a blessing. Being a father feels amazing. This has been the most spiritual moment in my life,” the New York Daily News quoted him as saying.

The ‘She Bangs’ hit maker insists that he loves being a full-time nanny as he does not want to miss even a single moment of parenthood.

Theron stunned by South African men’s ‘sex with young virgin’ AIDS cure belief

Hollywood actress Charlize Theron is stunned that despite a lot of efforts being made to spread AIDS awareness among people, HIV-positive men in her native South Africa believe that they will be cured of the disease if they have sex with a young virgin.

She founded the Cape Town Rape Crisis Centre in 1999 with a view to halting her homeland`s AIDS epidemic.

However, even after a decade, she still finds people who think that they can find simple cures for the killer disease.

“You have huge HIV numbers and nobody is educated on how you get HIV,” Contactmusic quoted her as saying.

“Many think if they rape a child or virgin they will will be cured of the disease... It`s a problem where education and people are being naive, cultures that are very superstitious,” she added.

Robert Pattinson denies saying he is single

Actor Robert Pattinson has denied tabloid reports that he is single.

The `Twilight` star claimed that he never spoke to British newspaper, The Mirror, which quoted him saying he has not seeing anyone, reports Contactmusic.

The Mirror had quoted him as saying: "I don`t have a girlfriend. I don`t know why. You always think you``re going to get more girls after you``ve made a movie and it never happens.

“You sit there and you`re like `I`m a big movie star and I want to go out with some models` but I don`t know why that doesn``t happen."

He reportedly added: "It`s especially different in LA. Most of the women there are actresses and by default that makes them a little bit nuts - not that that``s a bad thing.

“But I don`t really have a type. Whenever I get asked who my favourite celebrity crush is, I have no idea."

However, his publicist has now denied that the heartthrob made any such statement.

The reps said: "I will only comment on matters regarding Robert’s professional life, but in order to set the record straight, Robert did not speak to the Mirror, and their claim that they spoke to him a few days ago is manufactured along with any information that they claim to have as an exclusive directly from him."

Jolie’s bicycle gifts leave Namibian kids thrilled

Angelina Jolie is apparently no less than a saint for the Namibian children she helped by donating the profits from her family photos of baby Shiloh in 2006.

The kids helped by her are thanking her for distributing the four million dollars she had made from showing off Shilow, who was born in Namibia, to local schools.

Children attending the Okanimekwa School just can’t thank her enough because the estimated 10,000 dollars their school received in donation helped buy them bicycles.

"She’s (Jolie) a very special person, and we’ll never forget her. She must be a holy person," Contactmusic quoted teenager Emiliana Shikongo as saying in a new Life and Style magazine expose.

And schoolpal Andreas Kristofelius added: "I think Angelina Jolie must be a saint."

The report further revealed that the school bought 75 bicycles to help struggling pupils, and Shikongo was among those to reap the benefits of the gift.

Telling that her new mode of transport has shaved 90 minutes off her journey to school, she said that she no longer left at 5am and returned after dark.

"Now I can stay at school until 4 or 5pm to finish my homework and I still get home before dark. Now my teachers and parents are happy with my performance," she said.

Kristofelius, 17, added: "I used to stay late at school, then walk home to collect firewood to make light so I could finish my homework (because) there is no electricity... Now, with the bicycle, I get to school early, and I’m already working when my teacher arrives. And I can stay later and finish all my homework because it doesn’t take me long to ride home."

As both Shahid Kapur and Katrina Kaif are continuing to win critical acclaim for their newly discovered acting talent, they have managed to add another feather in their caps. Shahid and Katrina won the prestigious Rajiv Gandhi National Award for their acting skills at the National Centre for Performing Arts here on Wednesday.

Shilpa to launch healthy Indian food range to honour Jade Goody

Bollywood star Shilpa Shetty is set to launch her own healthy Indian food range as a tribute to late Jade Goody, according to reports.The 34-year-old actress is to pay tribute to her Big Brother co-participant by launching her own brand of poppadoms.

Jade was accused of being racist after she called the star “Shilpa Poppa-dom”.

Shilpa’s chicken curry, which divided the house with accusations of under-cooked meat and excessive use of onions, is also expected to be included in the menu.

“Shilpa thinks Jade will have a little chuckle in heaven about the poppadoms,” a news daily quoted a source as saying.

“She has been inundated with requests for her curry recipe and one day she just thought: ‘Why don’t I just create my own range?’

“One of Shilpa’s passions in life is healthy living so she wanted to incorporate that into her dishes,” the source added.

I can never be like my father: Shahid Kapur

He has bagged kudos for his outstanding performance in the latest hit `Kaminey`, but Shahid Kapur says he can never match his father Pankaj Kapur when it comes to acting."I can never be like my father (in terms of acting)...he is way beyond anyone to be like him. I don`t even have any aspirations to be like him because I know that`s not happening. I just hope whenever my father sees my films, he likes my work," Shahid said.

Apparently the father and son are going to come together in a film for the first time. Yet untitled, the project will go on floors early next year.

Madonna gets interrupted during romantic meal with Luz

`Queen of Pop` Madonna was unable to have cosy romantic with toyboy lover Jesus Luz as the local crowd grappled to get a closer view of their favourite singer.It was actually Italian locals who made a meal of the occasion by gaping at Madonna and Luz who have been holidaying at the Riviera resort of Portofino, where the star celebrated her 51st birthday earlier this week, Mirror reported.

The couple who wanted to share a romantic meal were reportedly left dazed by the locals who were quite willing to join the couple.

"Having a mob of people staring at you while you`re trying to have dinner wouldn`t be my idea of a romantic night out," an onlooker said.

Willis looking for love nest

Hollywood superstar Bruce Willis and his wife Emma Heming are looking at expensive properties in Los Angeles for their love nest.The couple have been seen viewing Los Angeles` exclusive Carlyle Residences, a 24-storey building featuring properties priced between USD 2.9 and USD 15 million.

Willis is planning to buy a three bedroom, four bathroom property equipped with gym, library, dining room and wine cellar, Contactmusic reported.

After house hunting, the couple travelled to Las Vegas to celebrate their daughter, Rumer`s 21st birthday.

The party at Tao restaurant and nightclub on Saturday night was followed by a meal at Willis` own `Planet Hollywood Resort` and at Casino`s Koi restaurant the following day.

During her celebrations, Rumer revealed she had not yet received any gifts, but let slip her father had been

responsible for her best and worst ever presents in previous

years.

"I had always wanted a dog and my dad came home one day and he had something wrapped up in a towel. He was just holding it and we were talking in the kitchen for a good 10 minutes or so and he just said, `Oh here, can you hold this for me?` And it was a puppy. "My dad also once got me a statue of a little girl reaching over a pond. I opened it and I just kind of looked at him and I was like, `I don`t really understand it but, you know, I`m happy to take it`," she added.

But now the actor is bent upon wooing the press and appeared to be at his hilarious best at a recent press meet for his upcoming film ‘Wanted’. He recounted several hilarious incidents about the film including one in which he appeared like ‘King of Dogs’ while walking with 40 to 50 dogs.'Wanted’ has been shot in Greece and Salman could not help talking about the friendly canines of Greece. ``I love the canines of Greece. They are so friendly unlike their Indian counterparts. While I used to walk down from my villa to the shooting location, I would always bring along 40 to 50 dogs with me on the sets. It was a hilarious experience. The crew would stand stunned at the sight as if I am the King of dogs.``

Talking about his average dancing talent, Salman said, “I`m a great dancer in the league of Sunny Deol and Anil Kapoor. So, when Prabhudeva, who`s directing this film moved his body like elastic and told me to do the same, I was amazed initially. Finally, upon realizing how good I was with my jig, the director made some tailor-made changes in the dance steps. I think this film showcases my best dance sequences till date.``

Amitabh Bachchan goes melodramatic; blogs in hyperboles!

Choking on emotions, a teary Amitabh Bachchan has rubbished all reports that he is bidding good-bye to the virtual world after expressing his anger over reckless comments posted on his blog. Just days after the media went buzzing with reports that superstar in a moment of fury has decided to stop blogging, Big B in a first ever emotional outburst expressed the tremendous love and affection he feels for his readers who he states are his “extended family”.

The whole incident started after a hurt Bachchan threatened to stop blogging after witnessing a few of his fans using the platform “to get personal and ugly with each other”. “And each hashed comment that I came across as I scrolled down to the last that indulged in a slang match, felt like a stab in my precarious rib cage,” he wrote on his blog.

But now the superstar who received an overwhelming response to his blog has smashed reports that he plans to quit blogging. And here’s what the actor wrote for his fans:

“I never choked when I wrote about my Father’s passing or that of my Mother’s, nor of any incident that may have been close to it. But I am choked today. The eyes swell up with that strange liquid that appears involuntarily at moments such as this. The keys and the text that appear in front of me, blur and the fingers move at a pace that have no pre determined design.”

High on emotion he adds, “Truth has that exceptional quality that, by its admission, has the capability of moving mountains. ... I choke today because I have been confronted by a mountain of emotion, an emotion that has without any dilution, presented itself before me by my extended family. I do not think that there can be any doubt, that when we have confessed, faced truth, been a part of it, or admitted its presence, that we have not been overcome with overwhelming emotion. The truth I face today is the limitless love that I have for this family of mine and the limitless love that it reciprocates me with, every day of the year.”

Assuring his fans he stated, “I cannot decipher what it is I have done to receive such affection, but now that I have it I am not going to let it disappear. NO ... ! I shall not stop writing. NO..! I shall not stop my connect with you. NO ... ! I am not going anywhere. I am here and shall remain here!”
