Uber-cool Salman wins hearts as he chucks starry airs

Call him a bad boy for his weird antics and volatile rage but Salman Khan can be a real gentleman when he wants to be. The actor, who is otherwise infamous for making producers pay through their nose, left filmmaker Vipul Shah of ‘London Dreams’ pleasantly surprised after he went out of his way to assist the crew of the film.

It so happened that while shooting certain sequences of ‘London Dreams’ in Punjab, the unit members realised that Sallu’s costumes had not arrived. The star was ready to go for his scene but the crewmembers were much too scared to inform him about the incident. But to their surprise when Sallu was told about the gross negligence he was anything but angry.

To everyone’s surprise, Sallu offered to get the costume for his scene. He had to be dressed as a bandmaster for the scene and he went on a look out for the outfit in Punjab.

Confirming the news a source said, “When the production team told him about the problem and he stepped forward to bail them out. He asked the production team to get him addresses of traditional Indian bands located nearby. After he got the list, he arranged for cars to head to those places. Everybody was wondering what he was up to. Salman visited the band offices and took them by surprise when he told them that he wanted to borrow one uniform from them. He gave them his measurements”.

What’s more is that the locals were more than willing to help him out. After a frantic search, Salman got his size and hurried back to the sets. The filmmakers were relieved that they could resume shooting and it was all thanks to the uber-cool Salman.

Salman gets good pals Anil and Govinda to dance on `Ganpati` song

For an actor, who is known to bend rules for friends and make guest appearances for free, Salman Khan commands quite a respect in the industry.

Having made several filmmakers rich with his special appearances, Salman recently asked his close friends to do the same for his much-awaited flick ‘Wanted’.

As per insiders, Salman’s closely-guarded secret about the Ganesh song in the film is out. The song that has been making waves ever since it was released as a promo of the film is said to have more stars than Salman alone.

Buzz has it that besides Salman grooving to the song ‘Jalwa’, Anil Kapoor and Govinda too will be seen shaking a leg. And after keeping the song under wraps for long, it has been lately emerged that it was for Sallu that the two actors agreed immediately.

Talking about the song a source said, “Salman Khan is a firm believer of Lord Ganesh and celebrates Ganesh Chaturthi with much enthusiasm. When the song was being recorded by music directors Sajid-Wajid, Salman told producer Boney Kapoor that he wants the song to be shot in a very grand fashion. This is also the only song in the film that has been choreographed by Prabhu Deva who is also directing it”.

During the shooting of the song Sallu felt that the song was lacking the ‘It’ factor. Taking the lead the actor decided to add something more to make it a memorable one. The actor then insisted on getting his two good pals, Anil Kapoor and Govinda aboard. And considering insider reports, it is believed that the song is a sure-shot chart-buster.

Health freak Salman Khan trying to quit smoking finally!

He might be known as the Bollywood brat, but it looks like Salman Khan is now trying to turn a new leaf. He says he is trying to quit smoking.Asked about the habit that is hard to kick, he said: "I`m trying to (quit smoking)... Smoking is something people start to either enter a social circle or to show off."

But he does have a word of advice for others trying to quit cigarettes too.

"Once you quit, there are also chances of picking it up again because when you find people around you smoking, you join them to be with them. But it slowly and slowly kills you and people stop only when they are advised by the doctor. So everyone should quit it before reaching that stage," Salman said.

Get ready for the Shah Rukh-Salman face-off!

For all those who thought that they won’t be able to catch Shah Rukh and Salman together anywhere after their infamous spat, there’s news! The latest Bollywood buzz suggests that a new reality show, in all probability, will put the warring Khans on same platform.

According to reports, Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan will make a joint appearance in the ‘Dance Premiere League’, a dance based reality show.

An entertainment channel is reportedly planning to get both the stars on the same platform. The one-time friends, who had a fall-out on Katrina Kaif`s birthday bash last year, haven’t been seen together ever since and this shall prove to be their biggest ice breaking moment if at all it materialises.

It is believed that this reality show will include participants from all over the country and these two stars will be roped in to be the team leaders, so if the teams of Salman and SRK clash at any point, then the two will obviously have to face each other as team leaders.

I will tell you when I’m ready for marriage, yells Salman!

With Salman Khan’s much awaited flick ‘Wanted’ ready for release, the hunk of an actor is all geared up to deliver a Box Office hit and end his Bollywood jinx which includes a string of flops! With the slick promos of ‘Wanted’ running on the idiot box, the movie is one of the most anticipated releases for die-hard Salman fans.According to the latest Bollywood news, Salman spoke at length about his views on media professionals, his career and his much anticipated marriage in a recent TV interview.

The mercurial Salman lambasted the media stating, “You media people really believe that you can make anyone into the biggest star there is, right? Maybe you cannot make or break a star, but you can influence judges, lawyers, public prosecutors, etc. You can also give us more stress with family, old parents and 50 billion people calling up home and asking our family about what is the truth and what is not.”

A miffed Salman continued his rants and maintained, “I wish you would make an effort to clarify stories more sincerely. We get a text message saying ‘this is the story and we need your side of it’. But before anyone confirms, you already have the full story in place and no mention of any version. When you get a star’s side of the story, get it properly... not just a last line saying ‘this person denied it... or wasn’t available for comment...!”

When prodded on the million-dollar question about marriage, Salman retorted, “If you are going to ask me the same question billions of times, I get irritated. Always, ‘when are you getting married, when are you getting married’? Marriage is big. I’m not one to hide it. I will tell you when I’m ready. I’m not going to run away, man. It’s a respectable thing. But you know, this country has more important issues then just talking about my shaadi!”

Speaking about journalist ethics, a mellowed Salman said, “Friendship with journalists doesn’t mean they keep on writing anything. I have very few friends and those that I had, they’ve all passed away, a long time ago. Some of them were my childhood buddies. I have never developed any special relationship with any presswallah.”

After Salman, Sanjay Dutt and Ajay Devgan eye IPL team

With IPL turning out to be a major money spinner, Bollywood celebrities are keen to make big bucks by buying cricket teams. According to latest Bollywood news, it is believed that B-town hunk Sanjay Dutt and Ajay Devgan are eager to buy Ahemdabad IPL cricket team.

Talking to a newspaper, a close source confirmed the news of Sanjay and Ajay planning to buy an IPL team. "They have decided to own a team together as they are ardent cricket fans. They are keen to own the Ahmedabad team. Since Ajay was busy travelling, he informed Sanjay about being unable to meet IPL Commissioner, Lalit Modi. It was Sanjay who met Modi and expressed their interest to own a team. Modi and Sanjay met at a suburban five-star on Wednesday to understand the bidding process. Sanjay made it very clear that whenever the auction begins, they are ready to invest in the Ahmedabad team," the source said.

However, when Dutt met Lalit Modi at a posh Mumbai hotel, the actor was taken by complete surprise as he had no idea that media would be waiting for him at the same venue. It is believed that media is informed every time a Bollywood star wishes to buy an IPL team. The source maintained, “The idea is to let it be known that big stars are getting progressively involved with the IPL. That attracts more money, eyeballs and junta interest. So on Wednesday evening when Dutt reached the Hyatt he was taken aback to see media persons swarming the place. His first impulse was to flee.”

However, it is believed that the meeting between Dutt and Modi was a great success where the former discussed his curiosities about buying an IPL team. The source added, “Sanjay’s main concern was, would he be able to buy the team because of his court cases? There are many things that he can’t do, like endorsements, etc. Sanjay was assured there would be no problem. With the removal of TADA charges Dutt now has rights equal to every other Indian citizen.”

After Shah Rukh, Preity Zinta and Shilpa Shetty dabbling in IPL, it’s Sanjay and Ajay’s turn to invest in an IPL team!

Romance is what I enjoy the most: Salman Khan

He may be playing an arrogant hitman in his latest film `Wanted`, but Bollywood heartthrob Salman Khan says that he enjoys doing romantic roles the most."I like to do all kinds of roles, but I enjoy romance the most in films," said Khan who is usually as much in news for his romantic link-ups as for his movies.

The 43-year-old actor who is returning to the action genre after a long gap with `Wanted`, directed by Southern superstar Prabhu Deva, says that the preparation for the role was a painful journey.

"Usually I don`t need to prepare for action, it`s in-born but this time the return to action was very painful. It was difficult because we haven`t used much of cables. I even suffered a ham-string injury during the shooting of the film," said Salman who was in town to promote the film.

Bollywood`s enfant-terrible Salman turns activist

He has been seen as an enfant-terrible, but Salman Khan wants to change that with the 30 short films that he has shot for a cause. His ‘Wanted’ producer Boney Kapoor says it will project him as an icon well-versed with his social duties."For `Wanted`, we wanted Salman to completely abandon the bad boy image. Salman is a youth icon. And those 30 short films on public issues we`ve produced will project him as a responsible citizen and an icon who knows his duties," Kapoor told reporters.

The 30 short films, directed by Nikhil Saini and produced by Kapoor`s SK Enterprises, will go on air a week before the release of "Wanted", which is scheduled for a Sep 18 release. These films will have Salman addressing the public about social issues such as drugs, old people, crime and so on.

"The 30 short films will be unleashed in quick succession one after another," said Kapoor.

Almost all the marketing for "Wanted" will benefit Salman`s new charity concern, Being Human.

"It`s true Salman`s keen interest in marketing `Wanted` has a lot to do with his newly-discovered craving for organised social work. This was a side to Salman that always existed. It just needed to be harnessed. Earlier too he contributed hugely to charitable and social causes. But not in this organised fashion," said Kapoor.

Kapoor, who earlier teamed up with Salman in hit comedy "No Entry", thinks quite highly of the actor.

"Salman is one of the best human beings I`ve met. We first bonded over Vodka and Bacardi in Hyderabad when he was shooting for `Judwaa` and I for `Judaai`. Later I asked him to do a two-day appearance in `Sirf Tum`. He immediately agreed.

"When I asked his fee, he said he wanted another drinking session like the one in Hyderabad. Then he did `No Entry` for me at time when I was going through a low. Even for `Milenge Milenge` he agreed to a cameo until he opted out for whatever reason."

Directed by well-known choreographer-turned-director Prabhu Deva, "Wanted" is a remake of the 2006 Telugu film "Pokiri" and it also stars Ayesha Takia.

My name is Salman Khan, says a furious Sallu!

There is always something new that annoys Salman Khan. And just when we think that we know this decades old actor, Sallu shocks us all with his seething temper.

Hailed as people’s actor, Sallu might be loved for his generous heart but the next time you try to establish a connect with the actor don’t refer to him as ‘Sallu bhai’.

According to the latest Bollywood news, Sallu errr Salman lost his cool while promoting his film ‘Wanted’. It so happened that the actor, who had gone to a radio station for the film’s publicity, had a row with the RJ after he innocuously referred to Salman as ‘Sallu bhai’.

Outraged with the act, Salman immediately corrected the RJ and sternly instructed him to refer him as Salman Khan. “Call me Salman Khan,” said the actor.

Explaining why Salman was against the ‘bhai’ word, Siddharth Kannan told reporters, “Salman doesn’t like the fact that people unknown to him call him ‘Salman bhai’. Just like Govinda doesn’t like being called Chi Chi by strangers. Salman also said that he only likes it when his close friends and family call him bhai. When I explained to him that I looked up to him as my elder brother, he softened and said that I could address him as Salman bhai for the rest of the interview.

Shah Rukh does not miss me, says Salman Khan

The infamous ‘Khan’ war between Shah Rukh and Salman has always been successful in grabbing headlines in lurid tabloids as juicy gossip. Known for their mutual dislike towards each other, both the actors have left no stone unturned to take a dig at each other!

Recently, while speaking in a television interview, Salman openly professed his likes and dislikes when it comes to Bollywood acquaintances. Speaking on fallouts, the hunk of an actor did not mince words and admitted that he does not hang out with such people anymore.

When directly enquired about his one time friend Shah Rukh Khan, a mercurial Salman snapped, “No, not really. We weren`t that close anyway. We used to hang out together once in a while. We did quite a few films and had a laugh. We had a problem earlier as well, and one night it just happened. People have fights; it`s just the next morning it was taken to a different level. If everything were sorted out that night itself, perhaps, things would have been fine. But I guess there was a different agenda to that.”

When enquired whether there is any possibility of a reconciliation between the two Khans? “No, I mean he`s doing fine. He doesn`t miss me, it`s not like he is crying over me. He`s doing good work and he is good to the people he works for. He is at one end of Bandstand and I`m at the beginning of Bandstand,” said Salman.

Talking on friendships, a philosophical Salman said, “When one is growing up it`s different. But today you come to a stage where there are no friends. Most people who you meet are just acquaintances and who you get along with. Everyone should realise that your childhood friends and your family are all you need.”

Well, when solicited his views on the recent SRK and Newark airport episode, Salman said, “I think this whole thing has been blown out of proportion. Forget immigration in America or anywhere in the world. You can`t enter any five star hotels till the time you and your car are checked. So when you don`t mind the security check while entering a hotel here, why do you have to mind it there? I’m sure Shah Rukh must be feeling the same. At that point of time a person`s ego gets hurt. It must have been blown out of proportion and there must be a promotion angle also.”

Salman’s family ecstatic about his IPL dreams

Salman’s ‘Khan-daan’ is rejoicing over his ‘IPL’ dreams. Salman, Arbaaz and Sohail are huge cricket buffs and Salman’s attempt to buy an IPL team is hugely appreciated. Although there was news that the actor is buying the team for his sister but actually the entire family is crazy about Cricket.

Talking about Sallu’s IPL dreams, sister-in-law Malaika Arora Khan said to a news daily, ``We are all very excited about Salman`s plan to own a cricket team in IPL. The whole family shares a huge passion for cricket especially Arbaaz, Salman and Sohail. All of us are keeping our fingers crossed.``

The ‘Khan-daan’ is waiting with abated breath for Salman’s IPL dreams to be fulfilled and we are also waiting for the same, as it would lead to some juicy fodder owing to Khan-war between SRK and Salman.

Salman`s absence from event leaves 12 injured

At least 12 people were injured when police used canes to disperse fans protesting after filmstar Salman Khan did not turn up for a scheduled programme at a mall here.

A large number of people had gathered at the Shopprix mall where the Bollywood actor and his brother Sohail Khan were due to inaugurate a jewellery shop on Thursday.

But the fans got infuriated when only Sohail came for the
function and started protesting against the organisers following which police cane charged the gathering.

At least 12 persons suffered injuries, eyewitnesses said. However, no police officials spoke on the matter.

After SRK episode, Salman Khan cancels his US trip

Learning lessons from Shahrukh Khan episode, Bollywood star Salman Khan has cancelled his upcoming trip to New York to promote his latest movie 'Wanted', besides participating in the auction of his personal paintings to raise funds for his charity.Organisers and promoters associated with the event cited Shahrukh Khan`s episode at Newark Airport early this month, where he was questioned by immigration officials and taken for a second screening, as a major reason for Salman to cancel his New York trip scheduled in early September.

The event was scheduled for September 3 in New York. The promoters were also in talks with local organisers in cities like Chicago, Houston and Dallas for his other events.

"However, after the Shahrukh Khan event, Salman informed us that he would not like to take the risk of coming to the US at this point," an informed source involved with the planning and organising the September 3 event told reporters.

It is understood that Salman`s decision was also propelled by what his aid alleged "the hard time" being given by the US Consulate in Mumbai in approving the visa of his close associates, including one of his family members, whom Salman wanted to bring along with on this promotional trip.

Bureau ReportBesides Salman Khan, producer Boney Kapoor, former Bollywood star, Sridevi and Prabhu Deva were also scheduled to attend the New York meeting.

Informed sources said following the Shahrukh episode, which attracted much media publicity in both India and the US, there is a sense of reluctance among local promoters and organisers of Bollywood events to risk inviting starts from Mumbai.

Shahrukh had alleged that he was detained and questioned at the airport for nearly two hours as his name popped up on the computer of the immigration counter.

He alleged that he was subject to questioning as his last name was Khan, a charge denied by the US Customs and Border Patrol.

Salman doesn’t like to see Katrina wearing sexy short clothes

In a latest revelation, Salman Khan confessed his possessiveness for girlfriend Katrina Kaif! The actor revealed that he has not been watching Katrina`s for a long time, because he doesn’t like to see her wearing sexy and small clothes in films.Salman says, "Once I saw she was wearing a really small skirt in a movie and I didn`t like it. It`s better to stay away from those films. I never interfere in her work anymore, as she`s grown up and has good scene of choice. I just watch the promos of Katrina`s films and get the idea of what the film is about."

Although Salman’s possessiveness for his girls has always been quite evident, but such a statement coming from him shows his mindset.

Now, if he has a problem with Kat’s short-skirts, he would certainly be at the edge whenever Katrina romanced rival co-stars.

Shah Rukh is the most insecure actor: Salman Khan

It’s been over a year since Bollywood titans, Salman and Shah Rukh, clashed over mysterious reasons at Kat’s birthday, but the bad blood and the bitterness between the two czars seems to be deepening with each passing day. And even as we await reconciliation with ardent interest, their cheeky potshots and witty comments confirm that this Khan war is far from over.

Unwilling to let go, it’s Sallu, who with his outlandish comments, has again opened fire at King Khan dubbing him as the ‘most insecure actor’.

Speaking on a TV show, Salman said, “What Shah Rukh does or says is not of the least interest to me but he is one of the most insecure actors. If he could get rid of that he would actually be a nice fellow. When we were all starting out in our careers, and were in the Rs 4 to 5 lakh bracket, we were friends. As we became more and more famous, he grew more insecure.”

At constant loggerheads of the media, the actor also blamed the tabloids for the quick turnover of girlfriends some actors have. “Two people may have just begun dating, they need time to know one another, to understand one another and you people start writing that they are in a relationship. That puts an awful amount of pressure on them and they are almost forced to get into a relationship,” he ranted.

Then he added, “When they find they are not terribly compatible and don’t want to take the relationship further, you people say, he is changing girlfriends all the time.”

Well he does have a point, but don’t we all wish to see this eternal bachelor settle down for good. As for Shah Rukh, it’s time Salman let’s bygone be bygones.

Salman Khan and Shahid Kapur kiss and make up!

Celebrated for his quirky ways, volatile temper and incessant ‘Khan’ wars with arch-nemesis Shah Rukh Khan, Bollywood’s brat Salman seems to have made peace with a much younger rival Shahid Kapur!

It is believed that the two actors have finally resolved their differences after three years of cold war. Well, overshadowed by the massive SRK-Salman row, the lesser known Salman-Shahid spat took place way back in the year 2006 when both the actors were part of Rockstar concert. It so happened that Bollywood brat Salman was unable to get his dance steps right and Shahid came forward to his help. Nevertheless, Salman was literally miffed by the audacity of a young actor and simply asked Shahid not to interfere.

Till recently, Salman was in no mood to forgive and forget and as a result, the hunk of an actor opted out of a cameo in ‘Milenge Milenge’- a Satish Kaushik directed flick starring Shahid Kapur.

Finally, with both the stars patching up, Shahid has readily agreed to be a part of ‘10 Ka Dum’ where the actor will be seen alongside his ‘Dil Bole Hadippa’ co-actor Rani Mukerji.

Well, it seems it was Rani Mukerji who played the perfect pacifist between Salman and Shahid!

Bollywood brat Salman Khan joins the IPL bandwagon?

After the news of two more teams being added to the extravagant Indian Premier League in 2011 started doing the rounds, Bollywood superstar Salman Khan took maximum interest in the report.

The actor has showed interest in purchasing an IPL franchise for the 2011 edition and he also met the League’s Chairman Lalit Modi on Wednesday to discuss the feasibility of the prospect.

The report was confirmed by Modi when he said that Salman had approached to discuss all the pros and cons of buying an IPL team. Modi also confirmed that the actor would be buying one of the new teams and was not interested in any of the existing ones.

When asked about the cost that Salman may probably incur while purchasing a franchise, Modi said the price of buying any team was more than double this year; last year Shilpa Shetty and Raj Kundra had to pay 15 million dollars for the Rajasthan Royals, this year Salman would have to pay a minimum of 30 million dollars if he intends to own one.

A lot of Bollywood actors are a part of the cash-rich T20 League with Shah Rukh Khan owning the Kolkata Knight Riders, Preity Zinta with partner Ness Wadia owning the Kings XI Punjab, and Shilpa Shetty, with beau Raj Kundra, owning the Rajasthan Royals.

Modi also dropped hints that more celebrity names might come up with the process going into the later stages as it was a hot venture at the moment.

Salman-SRK rivalry has been doing the rounds currently after the latter was detained in an airport in the US for security check. Salman’s comments went against King Khan when he said that he (Salman) has always been checked and frisked while traveling in America and SRK’s issue should not be given much importance.

Why Salman Khan failed to keep a train-date with fans?

Just hours after Salman Khan declared that he would hop on the Mumbai local train to experience the life of the ‘aam junta’, his fans and the media rushed to the Bandra station to catch a glimpse of their star. But all their efforts proved futile as they were met with great disappointment when the star failed to show up. However, before you make judgements let us inform you that the actor had good reasons to ditch his date with his fans.

According to the latest Bollywood news, Salman’s maternal grandmother had been keeping unwell for quite some time now. On Tuesday she was gravely ill and the star had to rush to be by her side. By the end of the day, she passed away.

And though this is a reason enough, the actor also decided that boarding a local train was not a risk worth taking as he was concerned that some of his fans or the media could get seriously injured in the chaos.

Speaking to reporters Salman said, “The fans go crazy when they see their favourite stars and the media guys obviously are so engrossed in running after the star that they forget everything else. This is not like a person falling down from a cycle... this is a train journey and any mishap here would have been serious.”

“The situation would have been chaotic and it would have been very hard for anyone to control it. We got a call from the stationmaster updating us about the situation at the Bandra station and the police officials were also a little skeptical about the train journey. So we thought it was best to cancel the plan”, explained the star.

Well, looks like Salman will have to disguise to get a train ride.

Salman hops on a train to experience the hardships of middleclass

Salman Khan is a commoner at heart - a fact often highlighted by the actor’s mode of transportation. Salman, who often surprises us by ignoring his luxury car rides in favour of a bumpy fun-filled ride in auto and bikes, has now taken a fancy for the local trains of Mumbai. Out to experience the everyday life of ‘mango people’, the actor has now decided to hop on the train sans any security.

According to the latest Bollywood news, Salman will take the local train to travel to an unknown destination on Tuesday afternoon.

Talking about the incident, a daily quoted a source as saying; “Salmanbhai plays a character in his forthcoming film ‘Wanted’, where the mode for travel for him is a local train. He had lot of fun while shooting for ‘Wanted’ in a train. So, he has been saying that he wanted to travel in a local and experience what a normal middle class person goes through everyday. Salman will travel in the afternoon and is not taking any security with him. A lot of people advised him to take security with him as it can be chaotic, but he is against the idea. He will be going post lunch and he is very excited. He has not travelled in a train for over 20 years now.”

Confirming the news, Salman said, “My character, Radhe, in the film has used the local train as the mode of transport. In the film, I have not travelled by cars or rickshaws. So I decided to relive Radhe for a day in real life, thereby transporting Radhe from reel to real.”

Well, our advice to Sallu is – keep a check on your wallet and valuables.
