SRK at a recent press meet of his upcoming flick My Name is Khan declared, ‘This is my new avatar” .

However there was nothing unusual and then SRK smiled and said, “Rizwaan Khan, my new avatar in MNIK.”

“My Name Is Khan’ is the most special film for both Karan Johar and me. And unlike the rumors, it’s not about terrorism, or 9/11. It’s about a relationship between two people, between an individual and the State, and between an individual and the country. In short, there the three important components: love story, Islam and a mild form of autism, which forms the core of MNIK .”

When reporters ask him about his name ‘Khan’ featuring in the title he says, “Then I could have made My Name is Shah Rukh . Right? So, no, this is not a self promotion vehicle. Please do not trivialize or deflect from the intention of the subject. The name of the Movie is relevant to the story that Karan and screenplay writer Shibani Bhatija have visualized.”

My Name is Khan has inked a Rs 92 crore deal with Fox studios, the highest any Indian film ever got.

Kat to be wooed by Dostana four

Well after Priyanka Chopra glamourised Dostana, it’s the turn of leggy lass Katrina Kaif to do so, the only difference is Priyanka was wooed by two guys Abhishek and John and Katrina will be wooed by two more guys apart from Abhi and John – Arjun Rampal and Reitesh Deshmukh.

A source says, “Katrina was chosen to play the female lead after much deliberation. Dharma Productions has auditioned dozens of new girls. Actually, they wanted a fresh face for Dostana 2. But finally, after a tedious Google search, they felt that Katrina’s ‘most hit’ status on the Internet makes it apt for her to play the role of the ‘most hit’ girl by the boys in Dostana 2.”

“It speaks volumes for Katrina’s professionalism that she has agreed to co-star with Abhishek, regardless of the rumoured differences with Aishwarya Rai over the Barbie doll issue and even with John, whom boyfriend Salman Khan has apparently declared as a prohibited zone.”

Now this sounds really exciting.

Katrina-SRK to work together

Well this is the pair we have been waiting for a long time to sizzle on screen and Yash Raj has finally got SRK-Katrina together for their next venture.

A source says, “Katrina definitely has it going for her. SRK, on the other hand, has remained in the safe zone — as far as heroines are concerned — for a long time. Be it Rani Mukerji or Preity Zinta, he has stuck to his regulars and has worked with them repeatedly. He needs to be a tad more adventurous about his co-stars, and that’s where Katrina comes into the picture.”

The flick will be directed by Aditya Chopra or Chak De fame Kabir Khan.

Shahid Kapoor: I don’t miss Kareena

Shahid Kapoor in a recent tell-all interview revealed that he doesn’t miss Kareena Kapoor at all.

He says, “I have moved on in life. I don’t miss her. It’s been quite long. I am happy to be where I am. I am not in love and if there is someone, people will eventually come to know. Till then, people should keep patience. However, I will not go outside and wave. I feel very loved by the masses; they want me to get settled for good.”

Salman doesn’t wanna be a star

Salman Khan has changed a lot since his bratty days and is a more calmer person now.

So when we ask him whether he has changed, he says, “See everyone has lots of shades to their character. You aren’t in the best of moods all the time. When we are on the sets there are times when we get hugely pakaoed. When you are already stressed and if some one troubles you, then you can be a bit rude to them.

But we realise it the next moment and are extra sweet to them. As for the media, why I deal with them in such a manner… that’s because I don’t want to be a star.”

Kareena wants a Swiss home

Kareena Kapoor is planning to buy a home in the romantic country of Switzerland.

She says, “By the year-end, I hope I can buy my own house in Switzerland.’’

The reason is to have a home so far away is that the pretty lass and her beau are not able to do things privately in Mumbai.

Kareena adds, “We find it hard to go out clubbing or even for dinner because there is hardly any place that is truly private.It’s getting kind of claustrophobic. I have been giving it serious thought. If Johnny Depp can stay in Paris and work in Los Angeles, then surely I can stay in Switzerland for three months a year and work in Mumbai or wherever it is that I am required to be.’’

Shahid: I am quite surprised

Well the handsome dude is surprised at Censor board’s verdict of giving Kaminey an A certificate.

Shahid says, “I am quite surprised with the decision of censor board to have given an ‘A’ certificate to ‘Kaminey’. One should not go by the title of the movie as there is no other offensive word or abusive language used in the entire film.”

Our aim was to make a U/A certificate movie but when we got an ‘A’ certificate our whole team was unhappy and could not understand the reason behind it.”

The Censor board has asked director Vishal to cut some scenes from the movie to make it a U/A movie.

Kat becomes eye candy for Akki

Katrina Kaif role in most of her flicks was just of an arm candy. Post New York she decided she wouldn’t play arm-candy anymore but bent the rules for good friend Akshay.

She says, My reason for accepting this film is only because Akshay asked me if I would do it.”

“Akshay is a friend and I could never refuse. The two of us have given some of the biggest hits together. When I learnt De Dana Dan is Akshay’s home production (Akshay’s Hari Om Productions is producing the film in partnership with Ratan Jain’s Venus Productions) I said yes without hesitation.”

Talking about playing an arm-candy, Katrina says, “I have played the arm candy in one too many films in the past. Post New York, I have Prakash Jha’s Rajneeti where I’m the only girl with superb male actors like Naseeruddin Shah, Ranbir Kapoor, Ajay Devgan, Manoj Bajpai, Nana Patekar and Arjun Rampal. It is a performance oriented film for me and that’s the way I would ideally like most of my future films to be.”

Moving over to De Dana Dan, Katrina says, t has a host of almost 22 super actors. Obviously, there may not be too much of me on screen.”

Katrina is currently filming Prakash Jha’s Rajniti.

Sonam in a butter chicken soup

Sonam Kapoor a self confessed foodie, is on a strict diet and workout regime in the eyes of her fitness trainer, but her recent status on a social networking website got her busted.

The pretty actress’s profile read that she had butter chicken and biryani which was unfortunately read by her trainer.

She says, “I am into major trouble. Apparently my updates are also checked by my trainer, who read my messages about biryani and butter chicken. He got me!”

Katrina Kaif enjoyed the most memorable holiday of her life in Marbella, Spain not with boyfriend Salman Khan but with her family.

Katrina Kaif and her five sisters were accompanied by their only brother Michael.

Katrina says, “It was quite a glamorous sight, if I may so myself to see six similar-looking women accompanied by one 30-year handsomeguy (mybrother Michael) into restaurants in Spain. We formed a secret society that quite comfortably excluded everyone around. We were just happy being one big family.”

Katrina revealed that Spanish guys did not try to flirt with them,“I think they got intimidated seeing six girls accompanied by one man. They couldn’t make out what the man’s connection with all these women was,” she said.

“This has to be the best birthday of my life. I had the time of my life. It’s quite a sight to see all us sisters and our protective brother walking together. I must say all my sisters are better looking than I am.”

Apparently, Bipasha Basu is upset with her producers and directors these days. First, it was the film maker Rituporno Ghosh, who dubbed her voice in her first Bengali film ‘Shob Choritro Kalponik’, without any intimation to her. However, she decided to take it easy when she saw that the dubbing did not have any adverse effects to her performance in the film.

Again, she is upset with directors Daniel Silverman and Tapan Saha who failed to start the shooting of his directorial venture ‘Chimera’(Emothep of Mummy movie) on time. As a result, Bipasha’s dates for Chimera have gone wasted. A few days back, Bipasha had some problems with the script also. The movie which has Bips opposite the Titanic star – Billy Zane, will be a paranormal thriller where Zane plays an American doctor, who takes up an offer in India to work in a hospital where he treats Bipasha.

Ameesha Patel shocked to find her house in a mess

Ameesha Patel was in for a shocked when she returned to her penthouse located on 10th Road, Juhu scheme, after eighteen months. She was taken aback to see the condition of her plush fully furnished property which she had rented to an employee from a big corporate firm.

The tenants had made a complete mess of the house with all her furniture on the terrace completely ruined due to the rains, broken taps, damaged fans and fuses, stained floors, ripped sofa covers, cushion covers and curtains along with non serviced air conditioners and broken geyser lamps and taps.

Ameesha intends to ask the tenant to pay up for all the loss, which has come up to a figure of some lakhs after working it out with both the brokers. However, any amount of compensation will not make up for the pains she will have to take in refurnishing the house starting right from the scratch.

The movie revolves around the story of Yogesh Sharma (Harman Baweja) who wants to have a love marriage but due to circumstances, he is supposed to get married in ten day to prevent some disaster which his family may fall into.

As such he selects a girl from every zodiac sign and meets two girls every day and twelve in six days so that he can fall in love twelve times and find the best girl for himself. How things take a turn is a suspense to be discovered by the viewers themselves.

Vidya Balan in shape and style

Vidya Balan has always faced criticism for her weight and lack of fashion ssense, but this time Balan is out to give an answer to the critics. Not only she has lost ten kilos but has also decided to move to Sabyasachi for her own styling.

Meet the Harleen of ‘Love Aaj Kal’- Giselle Monteiro

Not much was revealed by Imtiaz Ali about his Punjabi girl in ‘Love Aaj Kal’ playing the character of Saif’s love interest as Harleen. The girl is a Brazilian model Giselle Monteiro.

Imtiaz Ali says, “She is actually a Brazilian girl named Giselle Monteiro. Why a Brazilian girl to play an old-fashioned Punjabi girl? Well, I was auditioning girls from all over the country to play the Punjabi girl opposite the Sikh Saif. I couldn’t find the right girl to play the 1965 ki ‘gali mein rehne wali ladki, purane zamane ki’.”

Giselle came to Ali through dress designer Anaita Shroff for the role of Jo, Saif’s Caucasian girlfriend in the second half. However, she landed up with the role of Harleen.

Giselle could not speak Hindi at all, but she had only two lines to speak, which were dubbed. Initially, Saif was apprehensive about the fact that he would look too old with a 18 year old girl but then he pulled it off completely. However, there was a complete mess when it came to a dancing sequence at the engagement.

“We wanted to put her through the paces with Sarojji (choreographer Saroj Khan), but it never happened. Sarojji didn’t have the time. For a foreigner to get the Indian ‘adaa’ right is very tough.

“We take for granted those nakhra-jhatka-matka, which we’ve seen our sisters perform at weddings. Indian girls have those ‘adaas’ without being trained. But for a foreigner it is tough,” said Ali.

‘Living with the superstar’ - Knowing Shahrukh better

‘Living with the superstar’ is a documentary by Discovery Travel and Living portraying the different shades of superstar Shahrukh Khan as a businessman, international name, a dedicated father and husband and as a Bollywood superstar.

The channel had started shooting for the documentary long back when SRK was in Mumbai shooting the music video for Kolkata Knight Riders. From there the crew went to South Africa, and then followed SRK to San Francisco, where he was shooting for Karan Johar’s ‘My Name is Khan’.

The documentary revelas the unseen side of SRK and the fact that he is a very simple, neat and clean human being without any superstar tantrums. He traveled in one car with his man Friday and security officer. He drinks at least 20 small cups of cold coffee and is a chain smoker.

The last part of the documentary has SRK with his family in London doing varied things like teaching his daughter Suhana to cycle, playing games with his son Aryan at Hyde Park, having lunches at cafes with wife Gauri and his children, and many other glimpses of his life. SRK was in London with wife and family to finalize the apartment he just bought there.

The shooting of the documentary is complete and Discovery’s Travel and Living channel will broadcast it after the editing is complete.

Abhishek & Aishwarya hide in the jungles of Kerala

Bollywood’s celebrity couple Abhishek and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan hardly get to spend some romantic time alone given their busy schedules but then this was the last thing they wanted as having to spend time alone in this manner.

It all happened on Wednesday in the jungles of Athirapilly in Kerala where they were shooting for Mani Ratnam’s ‘Raavan’. Abhi-Ash along with Mani Ratnam had gone to check out an elephant which was supposed to participate in the shooting from next week.

The elephant went out of control killing the mahout and taking off on a stampede. As a result, Abhishek, Aishwarya and Mani had to spend their time hiding in the jungles until people who could control the elephant and rescue the couple could reach.

They had to spend around ten hours without food or water until they were rescued late at night. But until then there was no news of their safety and wellbeing and not to mention here that Bachchan family and Aishwarya’s parents were very worried.

Given the amount of pains the unit has taken to shoot ‘Raavan’ right from director’s health scare to an elephant out on stampede to severe viral infections and malaria, this film, when released, will definitely make up for the efforts put in.

“It’s getting kind of claustrophobic,” Kareena tells a news daily.

But she already seems to have found a solution. Which is - buy a house in Switzerland and spend a couple of months every year rolling in the soft snow of the Alps with Saif. Moreover, there won’t be star-struck fans on their backs all the time.

“I have been giving it serious thought…I can stay in Switzerland for three months a year and work in Mumbai,” she is quoted as saying by the news daily.
