Hindu and Jew urge Madonna to take up Gypsy cause

Two Americans — a Hindu and a rabbi — have urged Madonna to take up the cause of the many Gypsies in Europe who face discrimination.Last week, Madonna was booed by thousands of fans during a concert in Bucharest when she said widespread discrimination against Gypsies in eastern Europe should end.

In a statement Wednesday, Rajan Zed, president of the Universal Society of Hinduism, and Rabbi Jonathan B. Freirich say Madonna could be "effective" in focusing public opinion on the problems faced by Gypsies, also known as Roma.

The two men — both of whom work in Nevada — say the "Roma issue should be one of the highest priorities of the human rights agenda of Europe." Zed and Freirich have both spoken out on behalf of Europe`s Roma population before.

Nationalism is my religion, says Salman Khan

Bollywood actor Salman Khan showed his patriotic side Wednesday when he encouraged Delhiites to unite and work towards the betterment of the country."I am an Indian. Nationalism is my religion. We want responsible citizens who think about India first," said Salman while addressing a gathering at Vijay Chowk at an event organised by Zee News as part of their India First campaign.

"We should unite and do everything for the betterment of our country," added the actor who has three releases lined up. He will be first seen in "Wanted", followed by "Main Aur Mrs Khanna" and "London Dreams".

India First campaign has also garnered support from noted personalities like Baichung Bhutia, Priyanka Chopra, Shahid Kapoor, Suniel Shetty and many more in the past.

Lindsay Lohan to swap acting for a career behind the camera

American film actress Lindsay Lohan is planning to try her luck as a television producer.The ‘Mean Girls’ star is said to find producing TV programmes more interesting than acting.

"I`ve been creating a bunch of shows that I`ve written treatments for and that I`m going to be producing," Contactmusic quoted her as having told US TV show ‘Extra’.

Lindsay has fallen out of favour with movie executives in recent years, and failed to land a major film role since 2007``s ‘Georgia Rule’.

To get her career back on track, she is suggested to be turning her hand to producing TV programmes.

Madonna tags Israel as world’s energy capital

Madonna tagged Israel as the “energy capital of the world” as she won hearts of 50,000 fans with her performance in Tel Aviv.The Queen of Pop, who last took to the Israeli stage in 1993, arrived in the country for two concerts as part of her ‘Sticky & Sweet’ world tour.

"It`s been 16 years since I played in Israel. I`m sorry about that, I shouldn`t have stayed away so long," the Jerusalem Post quoted her as saying during the show on September 1.

She continued: "Israel is the energy capital of the world. If we can live together in harmony in this place, we can live in peace all over the world."

The singer paraded with an Israeli flag during the gig and went on to stun all with choreography, props and elaborate visuals.

Madonna was said to share a special bond with the Jewish state as a devout follower of Jewish mysticism Kabbalah.

The megastar has apparently taken on a Hebrew name, Esther, and has made private pilgrimages in 2004 and 2007.

She recently visited the Western Wall during her stay and dined with Israeli Opposition Leader Tzipi Livni.

The entertainer will wrap up her tour with a final concert at Hayarkon Park on September 2.

When Shahid sat jobless at home for six months

The success of ‘Kaminey’ has catapulted him into the big league, but actor Shahid Kapur says he sat at home for six months without any work after his box office hit ‘Vivaah’ in 2006."The most difficult phase was after `Vivaah` was a super hit. I was at home for six months without work. I got some 60 film offers but none inspired me," Shahid told choreographer-director Farah Khan on STAR Plus` chat show "Tere Mere Beach Mein".

On the show, the actor spoke of losing his confidence after a spate of failures following his debut "Ishq Vishk".

He even shared how apprehensive and nervous he was when he had begun shooting for "Vivaah", but gained a little confidence after director Sooraj Barjatya gave him a pep talk saying: "There`s only one thing that can take you ahead and that`s talent and you have that in you!"

"I was unconvinced and gave one shot, then I saw it on the monitor and I said, `I`ve given a perfect shot...I know my work.` After that I used to just focus on my work."

The episode featuring Shahid will be aired Saturday at 9 p.m.

Jolie orders Pitt to either check into rehab or leave her

A furious Angelina Jolie has reportedly warned Brad Pitt to check into rehab, if he wants their relationship to continue.

The ‘Tomb Raider’ star recently discovered that Pitt, with whom she raises six children, had secretly shared hashish with Quentin Tarantino.

That did not go down well with her, and she ordered the ‘Troy’ star to either check into rehab or leave her.

"Stop boozing and smoking drugs or check into rehab!" News.com.au quoted a source as narrating what Angelina told Brad.

Brad was a self-confessed stoner when married to Jennifer Aniston.

But he had promised Angelina that his drug-using days were over after he became a dad, and she believed him, said the insider.

However, during a recent interview with shock jock Howard Stern, ‘Inglourious Basterds’ director Tarantino revealed that he had smoked hash with Brad when he travelled to France to convince him to do the film.

"Tarantino’s interview allowed Angie to catch Brad getting high, and she exploded," the source told the National Enquirer.

Eminem, real name Marshall Mathers split from his wife last year after another attempt at their tempestuous marriage. They`ve taken pops at each other in the past, but now its got nasty, reports thesun.co.uk.

Madonna reportedly collapsed twice during her performance in Sofia, Bulgaria on August 29.

The Queen of Pop, who has been hopping the globe for her ‘Sticky & Sweet’ tour, was said to have lost consciousness as she sang ‘Holiday’.

The singer had to be held up by a dancer before she passed out and fell over as she left the stage during Spanish Lesson, according to sources.

"Madge was really worried backstage. She had to sit down for a longer break than usual between songs,” the Sun quoted a source as saying.

"She refused to end the show or take a break after the Holiday dizzy spell. It turns out she``s suffering from exhaustion. She is anaemic.

"She was advised to postpone the last two shows in Israel for a few days, but logistics and stubborness stopped her. She`ll do them then take some rest," the source added.

Lily Cole owes acting career to late Heath Ledger

English actress Lily Cole insists that she owes her acting career to late actor Heath Ledger.

Cole said he taught her the tricks of the trade while they were filming ‘The Imaginarium Of Dr Parnassus’.

After a small role in Trinian`s movie, the 21-year-old actress was hired for Terry Gilliam`s fantasy epic, opposite Ledger and Christopher Plummer.

She calls Ledger “a great friend and mentor.”

“He definitely helped me,” Contactmusic quoted her as saying.

“From the beginning, he understood that I would be overwhelmed and scared by the size of the project. He encouraged me and said he was really proud of me, constantly fed me support," she added.

Cole reveals she came close to giving up on the film when Ledger was found dead of a prescription drug overdose in January 2008.

His role was taken on by three other actors - Jude Law, Colin Farrell and Johnny Depp.

"Everyone loved Heath. For everyone who knew him, (his death) was devastating. The practicalities of continuing the production were difficult, but it seemed irrelevant,” she said.

"Johnny (Depp) slipped seamlessly into the role, but that didn`t stop it being bizarre. I thought I was in at the deep end in the beginning - then look what happened!" she added.

Halle Berry is reportedly expecting her second child and is three months pregnant.The Oscar winning actress, who gave birth to little Nahla last year, was said to be looking forward to welcoming her second baby with boyfriend Gabriel Aubry.

“The first time, she struggled so much to get pregnant and eventually conceived through in vitro fertilization. This time, the baby was conceived through artificial insemination.

The star’s publicist did not comment on the story.

Bombshell Megan Fox lost her virginity at 17

Hollywood bombshell Megan Fox has revealed that she lost her virginity at the age of 17 to her first "real" love who was also an actor.

Fox didn`t name him but the 22-year-old star had some good words to say about him, Cosmopolitan magazine reported.

"I`ve had plenty of awkward stuff, but that first time was not awkward. I was in love with him and it was nice," Fox told the magazine.

The `Transformers` beauty also told that she categorically refers men in her life as boys so as to keep them in their place.

Demi Moore is desperate for a baby with Kutcher

Hollywood actress Demi Moore, 46, has expressed a desire to have a baby with her 31-year-old husband Ashton Kutcher.

The actress who has three daughters with ex-husband Bruce Willis insists she is not too old to raise another child and admits it is something she has discussed with Kutcher, reports thetimes.co.za.

Asked about expanding her family, Moore said: "Why not? Everything is possible! We have so much to live for, and obviously one of them is to have a child. I`m very enthusiastic about all the possibilities that living together gives us.

"I`m an incurable optimist and a go-getter - it`s in my nature to focus much more on what makes me happy than what makes me nervous," she added.

Moore who has been married to Kutcher for four years insists the age gap between the two of them has never been a problem as they are able to embrace their different outlooks on life while still finding a common ground.

"What matters most for me is to have found someone for whom the age gap doesn`t mean anything and most of all with whom I have an incredibly deep relationship... We`re at different stages in our personal lives and in our careers. But we look at that as a positive thing because we are massively enriched by having different things to deal with and to share," she said.

"And also I won`t pretend that I`m not hugely happy to live with such a handsome man! I`ve met a lot of 40 and 50 year olds who were a lot more immature than him. Jackson death certificate reflects homicide ruling

Michael Jackson`s death certificate has been amended to reflect his cause of death as a homicide, specifying "injection by another" as the fatal injury.

The designation was not a surprise — coroner`s officials said last week that they believed Jackson`s death on June 25 was a homicide.

Investigators have said a mix of the powerful anesthetic propofol and another sedative killed the pop singer. The new record lists "acute propofol intoxication" as the main cause of death and "benzodiazepine effect" as another significant contributor.

The public copy of Jackson`s death certificate has not been changed to reflect his permanent resting place. Jackson is scheduled to be interred on Thursday evening at Forest Lawn Glendale.

The document does not mention Dr. Conrad Murray, who was Jackson`s personal physician. He told detectives that he gave the singer a series of sedatives and propofol to try to help him sleep.

The coroner`s determination of homicide makes it easier for prosecutors to seek criminal charges, but does not necessarily mean a crime was committed. Authorities investigating the singer`s death have served search warrants in at least three states, California, Nevada and Texas.

No criminal charges have been filed over Jackson`s death.
